A Few Things

Filed under: Blogging, scrapbooking — Heather @ 4:53 pm

I am trying to get ready for my crop this weekend and don’t have time to organize my thoughts into a regular post. So, here are just a few things that are on my mind that I thought I would share.

  • I will try to post the recipe for the rhubarb-blueberry cobbler with pistachio topping on Sunday or Monday for those of you who asked. It is so good that it must be a sin.
  • I printed 192 photos to take to my crop this weekend. I still have at least 100 more to print in order to catch up on my scrapbook. However, it will be amazing if I get even 50 of them cropped this weekend.
  • I stayed home and slept all morning because my ear and throat were hurting when I woke up.
  • I got an e-mail from a dear friend today and it made my day.
  • Don’t feel sorry for Brad because I didn’t cook him dinner yesterday. Brenda always makes an extra steak for him and sends it home with me.
  • I only have 4 or 5 more weeks of school and I can’t wait until the semester is over. I am not taking classes next semester.
  • I was thinking about all of the friends I have made through this blog and I feel blessed. Some of my cyber-friends are now closer to me than my friends “in real life.” Chatting with so many kind and amazing people in the past several months has reaffirmed my faith in humanity. To those of you who have been so kind to me, thank you.

Have a great weekend!

How I spent my Saturday . . .

Filed under: Friends, scrapbooking — Heather @ 9:41 pm

I spent my Saturday scrapbooking with six other women. No snickers from the peanut gallery, please. Scrapbooking is cheaper than therapy.

This is the first layout I completed. The pictures are from the trip my mother and I took to Orlando, Florida in March. I attend the American College of Cardiology Data Manager’s Meeting every year in the spring. For the past two years, my mother has gone with me. I used a duck theme because one of the highlights of our trip was seeing the Royal Ducks being escorted from their Royal Duck Palace by the Peabody Duck Master to the tune of Sousa’s “King Cotton March. And no, I did not drop acid on my trip to Florida. The Duck March really happened.

The next layout was a little bit challenging. I found the idea in one of my books and elaborated it a little. I loved these pictures of my boys playing in the jacuzzi at my dad’s house. I had so many of them, though, and didn’t want to leave any of them out. So, a friend helped me make a folding, four page layout. I love the way it turned out! In the blank box on the second page, I will add metal letters that say “Bubble Buddies.”

So, that’s what I did for most of my Saturday. I am very grateful to have a husband who looks forward to weekends with the boys. They had a great time while I was at my estrogen-fest. When I got home, we went to dinner at Abuelo’s. The kids were considerate enough to fall asleep in the car on the way home. So now I am off to bed as well.

G’night my friends.

National Scrapbooking Day

Filed under: Family, scrapbooking — Heather @ 11:06 am

My in-laws came over this weekend and Jane went to our National Scrapbooking Day crop from 6-12 Fri. night and 9-5 Saturday. We enjoyed it so much! Jane got 18 pages done and I got 14 pages done. We got to visit with lots of other people and just have fun. I am so happy with the way my pages turned out! Of course, between the crop and having company, I completely fell off of my weight watchers wagon! I doubt I will have lost any weight when I go on Wednesday. Oh well, a person can’t be good at everything:-) I guess I am not good at diets.

While Jane and I were cropping, Brad and Dale were putting a new roof on our storage shed so it won’t leak anymore. When we got home last night, they were sweaty and tired and hungry and still had a few hours of work left to do. So, we had reheated enchilada and got them each a Frappuccino from Starbucks—see why I just HAD to go off of my diet? Jane and Dale didn’t leave until 10:00 last night. Overall, it was a GREAT weekend.
